The Robinson Sawmill
A Living Museum in Calais, Vermont

What we are doing
-
We have all the permits required to restore the mill to working condition!
-
We have completed restoration of the building and the foundation!
-
We have begun a Capital Campaign to fund the necessary work to replace the planer shed and work on the dam and the penstock.
-
We have begun partnering with community groups and resources to allow us to complete our goals and offer three seasons of educational opportunities at the Mill.
Challenges ahead . . .
The Mill currently can only run for very short periods. The mill pond has filled with silt and mud making the water source for turning the turbine extremely limited. Additionally, the penstock which -- feeds water to the turbine -- needs to be completely replaced. And the dam itself is leaking and needs repairs.
The estimated cost for doing all this work is more than $200,000.
